Bad Weather Read A Good Book

If you are currently experiences bad weather then why not curl up in your favorite chair and read a good book? When it is raining outside there is nothing better than a cup of my favorite hot beverage and a good story to help pass the time. Since we haven’t received any emails from any of our fellow fans yet I thought I would ask a question of my own.

Does anybody know anything about this Foul Play Press who released 5 of Ms. Comforts stories in eBook format and are charging $18 a copy? I cannot find a website for them on the internet anywhere. I just checked on Amazon and here is the listings for eBook versions of only 5 of her stories:

Phoebe’s Knee $18.00
Grave Consequences $14.99
Elusive Quarry $18.95
The Cashmere Kid $18.00
A Pair for the Queen $18.00

They are listed as being part of Countryman Press, Inc but they have been bought out by WW Norton & Company, Inc out of New York. So I really wonder who is getting the royalties for the eBooks and why would they price them so much higher than any other eBook currently on the market except for text books? Without a way to contact anyone we cannot ask if they are going to publish the rest of her stories in eBook format or even if they are ever going to reduce the prices so that more people would be willing to buy them.

Oh, well that is my rant for today. We would still love to hear from you. Fan fiction and Fan Art to share with your fellow fans would also be greatly appreciated. So use our CONTACT US form and we will post the responses in our next blog post.

Till next time!

Tish McWhinny on Amazon Kindle

APairForQueenEBookTish McWhinny mystery series if finally available in eBook format on Amazon Kindle. We have checked with Overdrive and they are also available on their system for those of you who would like to pursue their local libraries in getting a copy. If you want them in your library you will need to keep pestering them until they buy them. Then you can post their availability to all of your friends and family.

Sadly, we will probably not get all of her wonderful books in eBook format and the ones who haven’t been converted are very hard to find. If anyone has copies of At Loggerheads or any of the Liz Bell books and would like to send a synopsis and cast of characters listing we would be very grateful. Please go to our CONTACT US page and send us a note.

Fall Colors Are Great

Autumn LeafFall colors are great and they are plentiful in Vermont. One of the smallest states in the union has produced some of the most amazing things. From syrup, great works of art and our favorite fiction. Some facts about Vermont from WIKI: Population 626,000; 9620 sq mi; 80 miles wide by 160 miles long; and only 14 counties. Dairy Farming is falling but still fairly big. Captive Insurance is playing a large role in Vermont’s economy. Tourism is a major source of income. A major exporter of maple syrup. Major employers are IBM, Fletcher Allen Health Care and various Vermont Government agencies.

Ms. Barbara Comfort wrote quite a few stories set in her home state that entertained us for years. Her books are slowly disappearing from bookstores and online so you may have trouble getting copies of her stories to read. Of course, you cannot get even one of her books on Amazon Kindle or Barnes and Noble eBooks. This is a terrible thing. All of her fans would like to be able to buy her entire collection of books online just like any other. If her fans want to sign a petition to her former publishers to get all of her books in eBook format we can do it. We are still looking for Fan Fiction, Fan Art, Tish McWhinny Crosswords, Liz Bell Crosswords, search-a-words, etc. Just go to our CONTACT US page and drop us a line.

Where to Get the Books

I received an email yesterday from a fellow fan who wanted to know where you could get Ms. Comfort’s books.  I know of only one place to get them and that is through Amazon.com.  I have created a profile on Amazon and put each of the books on my public wishlist. Most of the books are only available through 3 parties and 1 is a collector’s edition so it is quite expensive.  The author has or had her own publishing company called Landgrove Press but I haven’t found it on the internet yet.  You can order 4 of the Tish McWhinney Books through Mysterlovers.com .  But the best source I have found is Alibris.com which has all of her books available except for the Green Mountain Murder.  I cannot seem to find that book anywhere else except for the 1 used copy at Amazon for over $100.  If you have a copy of this book or know of where it can be found for a reasonable rate please contact us so we can pass the word around.

You can get more information about the area at www.vermont.com They have lots of information about the State of Vermont with pictures, a blog and other great things.  Landrove is located in the Southwest Region of the state. For those of you who live in the region it would be great to hear from you.   If you would like to add pictures you might have of the author then please email we at:  jolene.macfadden@barbaracomfort.info and I will upload them.

Cheers and Happy Reading!
